A fiction of imagination

You were

but a fiction of my imagination

When I needed someone to hold me

I envisioned you

Your arms a safety net

Your smell the scent

of familiarity and comfort

Your smile an act of reassurance

and your words whispers of hope

Yet, you were

but a fiction of my imagination

When I felt lost, frightened and alone

I envisioned you

Your pure presence the connection to life I was craving

Leaving imagination to the sleeping ones

Letting go off fragmented dreams

Gently blowing a kiss good-bye to the fiction of my imagination

you move aside

allowing me to step out of the haze

Waking up to a reality

in which you no longer need

to fill a void inside

that, too, was nothing else

but a fiction of my imagination
